A lil' about me...
My name's Kikine and I'm French Canadian. I live in West Sussex with my English husband Dan which I met while living in Whistler, BC.
I taught myself how to knit about 6 years ago, making lots of scarves at first, until my grandma taught me how to knit a pair of socks! She's actually won sock knittin' contests...My hero! I can make a pretty cozy pair of socks thanks to her patience. Thus began my love affair with wool. I am well and truly addicted.
I learned to crochet a couple of years later while doing a season in Chile. A local girl saw me knitting and asked if I knew how to crochet, I didn't, she taught me the basics and that was it! I've been hooked ever since (no pun intended I promise). I retired my knitting needles in favour of a crochet hook. I spent all of my spare time making beanies when we came back. Pick up a hook and learn to crochet and you'll know what I mean...truly addictive! The colour combos are
endless!
I work in a ski & snowboard shop and my boss was/is kind enough to let me sell my beanies there. They sold really well that first season so with the pennies I made I was able to order more wool and also create a tag to sew onto each hat. It's now been 3 years
since I've started this website and the response has been fabulous...I
even got a 2 page spread in Huck magazine this year! The highlight of my
crocheting career so far! I'm loving what I do more than ever with all different beanies I've gotten to make for people, it keeps it really exciting.
I absolutely love
creating people's ideas, so please email me with yours. I still find it
amazing what beautiful things can come from a hook and ball of wool.
Thanks for visiting my website and taking the time to read my story, hope to hear from you soon!
